I've got this one:

shredder_small_005.jpg

It works pretty well IF you make sure your leaf isn't folded over too much, shred one half of one leaf at a time, and aren't trying to shred more than about 6 ounces at a time. I'm probably going to disassemble it and see if some easy mod can be done on on the handle to attach a drill motor.

In the mean tme, I'm watching this thread for an announcement that Don's machine is ready for debut!

Hi Alhefner
You could read my post about some mods about this machine
http://fairtradetobacco.com/threads...for-prime-time?p=101727&viewfull=1#post101727

They are very cheap , I buy it for 15 euros , but the very big problem its the rollers , when they start outworn , you could forget , its time to a new one .
I busted more then ten of this machines , the power drill its not very good idea , because they are brush motors and get very hot , you could use a cordless drill or a wiper motor , for power supplier you could use an old pc atx , or a new one , they are pretty cheap , and very easy to adapt .

How many pounds of leaf do you estimate you shred before the rollers wear out?

Well , I shred more or less 10 kg per month (22 pounds ) , I would say 3 months , 30 kg (66 pounds ) , but the first 10 kg the cut its good , the second 10 kg more or less , and the third 10 kg the cut start to be wider.

Now I'm using a Trezo V3 0.8mm , until now I cut 30 kg , and the rollers , combs and cut still the same as the first time , they are made from a very good steel .
But if the other's saying they cut 0.8mm , like gabej and other's , well , the 0.8mm of trezo V3 look like 0.6mm.

I have attached a wiper motor to Trezo , its workable, but a motor with more torque it will be good.
To clean since the rollers and combs are made of steel its very easy , you could use the same method on your's , just alleviate a little bit the combs , put water in the top of rollers , wait 1 minute , the tobacco inside the rollers will start to expand with the water , turn on the rollers and with the help of a pliers push the combs against the rollers , don't be scared when start to see very black pieces coming out :) , repeat if necessary.

I buy mine for 185 euros , but was a good deal , normally they are sold at 200/220 euros.

Hi Alhefner take a look at my photo album and see what you think I motorized this same grinder using an old paper shredder motor, its pretty easy to do.
