What is a proper way to weigh your leaf tobacco?

I have a digital kitchen scale that I got from Wal-Mart that I use to weigh my leaf tobacco. I usually weigh it for about 8ozs for a plastic container to store, but sometimes even though it says that it is 8oz or more I still feel like I am getting less than I should. I don't know if the humidity or the shredder has anything to do with it because the properties might change.

Anyways, what kind and brand of scale do you use to weigh your tobacco? I am thinking about getting a replacement.

If you want a more accurate scale get yourself a triple beam balance scale. I'm curious as to why you are measuring 8 ounces. I use my scale when I am mixing pipe blends, 10 grams here, 12 grams there etc.

I got my scale at a head shop because I like having accuracy down to tenths of grams for the purpose of trying out blending in single pipe bowl quantities. It's also handy for kitchen, coffee, tea, meat curing, spices, etc.

Gulp! I never use a scale for my tobacco. My opinion is that there is so much variability from ambient humidity as well as tobacco batch to batch variance that precise weights are not all that useful. And what you just smoked will likely have more influence on the next thing you light up than a few percentage points in a blend mixture.
