just curious what the best method for storage of air cured leaf is, I have seen people use ziplock bags with a mist of distilled water is this the best way until you decide kiln or decide on a fermentation method?
China,I keep them in thick resealable poly bags from the shipper supply store. Much thicker than a zip lock. Aaand, I keep these bags in a wood cabinet in the shade, outside. Alternatively, I keep it in 5 gallon buckets.
I think it depends on your local weather.China,
Is there a particular reason you keep it stored outside? Does it stay outside year round?
What is the consensus on the humble cardboard box for long term storage? I like it so the residual moisture can leave. Plus they're free for the taking.
Does freezing your leaves over time changes them?Inside is almost always more dry than outside in Alberta and storing it inside only works in perfectly sealed buckets. Outside gives me several months of being frozen, but is much more easy to maintain in case.
What are thoughts on shredding and storing it in large canning jars?
I bring my shredded tobacco down to low case and store it in large coffee time. This works out very well for me as I can take a small amount and try new flavors without wasting much. Just rehydrate the amount you want. Different varieties are easily kept separate as well. That method is very popular with pipe smokers.
