Hi Burge,

I used the 0.7mm fine cut. Like this:
0.7mm Fine Cut Shredder

The over baked tobacco tasted burnt/strong. Not nice at all :(

Thankfully using the different company the last couple of boxes have been fine. Just very very slow through customs and the Heat treatment alas.
Just have to order well a head :)

Cheers
Jenny
That is good to hear your new shipments are coming in. Strong would be okay burn no way have fun.

Will use 'rentokil' and see how they go...

I'm really pleased that you're happy with what you are buying. It's certainly more economical than buying a $100 50g pouch at the corner store.
However, (going by the figures you give) it could be costing you a lot less.
In buying in 2lb lots it would appear that you are paying around NZ$146 per pound of usable stripped leaf. (Assuming that you are probably losing 30% of what you purchase as discarded stem).
I also buy from WLT and it costs me approximately NZ$46 per pound (all costs included).

Hi I have been reading a lot of the forums .I am interested in buying a cigar blend kit (importing to New Zealand ) .Would that be fine ?Is it still classed as unmanufactured leaf is what I am getting at .Otherwise I could just get a Whole Leaf blend of some kind .Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum @Darcy. Feel free to introduce yourself in the Introduce Yourself forum. The blend kits from WholeLeafTobacco.com are quantities of unmanufactured leaf that include several varieties. So it's still whole leaf, but in variety ratios that assume a specific combination.

Thanks Bob i thought about it after and thought its probably classed as unmanufactured .I ve been told I have a champagne diet on a beer budget lol.Quite like the Cigars but its gonna cost a bit to get to New Zealand .I have grown some Nicotiana Rustica but unfortunately didn't really grow enough.

Recently, I was told there is a 60 - 90 day backup for heat treatment by New Zealand customs. There is absolutely nothing I can do about this situation. Orders of 200 lbs. or more can be shipped Freight which uses a USDA Phytosanitary and a customs broker in New Zealand to clear orders without being heat treated. Send me an email if you want to order this way. The cost of shipping is almost exactly the same as shipping a 50 lb. box (x 4 = 200 lbs), but the benefits of speed of delivery and the tobacco not being heat treated make it an attractive alternative to shipping with USPS.

I would have thought 200lb would be seen as a commercial quantity...

I mean, i'm a heavy smoker, but 200lb would last me over 10 years...

All sales to new customers from New Zealand have been suspended.

Due to the severe back-up of orders in the custody of the NZ Customs department, we will no longer ship to new customers in New Zealand. There is a 2 - 3 MONTH wait for orders to be processed. This leads to constant complaints by people who do not understand that there is absolutely NOTHING I can do about the situation. These customers then file disputes after 30 days which they always win for "Item Not Received" yet they do eventually receive their orders now FREE of charge.
I have tried recovering these monies rightfully owed to no avail, Now, new customers (and some recurring) "play" the system knowing full well they will not receive their order within 30 day, file a dispute, win the case and then get their tobacco...FREE.

Also, repeat customers will be heavily screened for any abnormalities in previous orders. Any and all discrepancies will lead to cancellation of those orders as well.

Hi Jason, I see you received both orders I shipped. I have sent an invoice for the second order that you agreed to pay for.
