how many plants per year??

I was just thinking ..what would be an average amount of plants someone would need to grow for a years supply of tobacco. ..say 7 leaves per day ×365 days in a year..=2555 leaves divide by 30 leaves per plant (approx)=85.16 plants a year..does any one else consider this when deciding what and how much to plant each year????

At least 100% more than the last year lol just kidding But i do know that what i grew about 40Or so will not be enough to last me so planning opon going into triple figures next year

At 4oz of dried leaf per plant (a rough average) you need 4 plants to make a pound. 1 pound will make 2 -2 1/2 cartons of cigarettes. So you need about 1.25 pounds per month, or 16 pounds per year to give you a pack per day. In theory, you only need 48 plants that yield 4oz's each. Of course that is assumes you can successfully grow, harvest and cure every leaf on every plant.

Also would depend on if it's either Turkish or a big Virginia. Med burley etc to wouldn't it.??

It would. 4 oz is a very general average. Most Turkish varieties will yield 1-3 oz's. Virginians and other Bright Leafs will average 3-5 oz's and big Burleys can get you up to 6-8 oz's per plant. If you have a mix of plant types and average 4 oz's per plant overall, you are doing pretty good.

that is what I plant 200 plants for 2 people. Has worked out quite well. 100 burley 100 bright
