Very interesting article! My older brother used to smoke lucky strikes. Anyway, I toast my shredded leaves in a 200 degree oven (for about 2 to 3 minutes) to remove the little bit of moisture.
This article has some information that might still be useful to us, but I'm pretty sure things at Lucky Strike have changed a bit since 1938. I'm betting their modern products are chemical-soaked, reconstituted tobacco paper like all the others.
