My project update:

I went with an inexpensive bamboo cutting board to start out with. Dimensions are about 17” L x 12” W x .7” thick… ish. Upgraded board came in on the right. A little pricier than the bamboo board, but will definitely come in handy in skill progression and having and extra board to use! Acacia wood board on right dimensions are 15” L x 15” W x 2” thick. Not to mention it can actually hold the tuck cutter! Hope to break this baby in within the next week or so, I’ve been on a big rolling and tossing into paper/plastic molds the last few weeks. I plan on having a big wrapping session at some point.

A little side by side. The top cutter/board combo from one of @MarcL posts. Cutter is workable and decently sharp, but may need to take apart the cutter and clean and bust off some of the rust. A project for an upcoming day.

Hmm…photo issues on my side. Will post when I can get that sorted.

Photos have a lag time intermediately so if you are able to post it w/o the pop up error message, and it shows as the red X, post it and it will show up in a number of minutes.

..cant wait to see it!

a couple pics came in it appears. Awesome! The 2 main ones. I think @webmost has a tuck cutter taking apart video somewhere. It definitely needs some tlc before putting to good use
I see the pics. that is a nice looking board. I thought webmost did a video too but it doesn't seem to be public.

I was looking a little while back. I did find this.

The only difficult part is getting the cotter pin in and out. It can not be done with the spring under tension easily.
If you compress the spring it will free the tension in the spring and the cotter pin will come out easily.
If you keep a hand on the handle while compressing the spring, it will keep it from flying open.
There are two forces the spring has. Straight and twisting. So, after the handle is free from the twisting force, the straight force remains so the cap the cotter pin goes through will need be pressed a little bit to get the cotter pin out.
