This is my land prep, the spot under the trees will be my wrappers and the rest fillers. Will give a list of the varieties, decided to cut down a lot. I have got loads of space to plant and hang tobacco, but my problem is the storing space for the cured tobacco.

Northern hemisphere--southern hemisphere. Although I shouldn't be surprised that it's time to prep the land in South Africa, it does evoke a sense of the global dichotomy. Nature's greenery never goes away throughout the year. It just wobbles about the equator.

Very nice soil. I like reading your blog. When I plant mine I may look over and see a squirrel. When you plant you may look over and see something that can eat you! I'm glad this site reaches so far. We would be at a loss if we didn't have grow blogs from over the water. Good luck on the grow.

It heats up in September, just as the Usa's winter start, and then it realy heats up going up to 36 deg Celsius. Sowing the seeds next week, then the fun starts. You lot in the Usa must be reaping by now. Funny how the old world is, one place winter the other summer.

I realize I'm late to this thread...but I just had to comment!

That is some beautiful land, a great spot for your leaf...and I am always amazed at just how certain parts of Africa are so beautiful! Why?...read on!

I also realize that you're in a different country but my daughter (who's graduating High School in about two weeks!) was over in Malawi last Summer for a mission trip. In fact, we have about 20 people from our church in Malawi right now for about the next week (and about 50 more to travel over there throughout the Summer). I have some friends that just this past October, sold everything they had and moved to Malawi to build, start and open a much needed feeding center for a small village. They now live there and we have some other folks there to spend the Summer with them as they continue to add programs and buildings to this village.

Now, I say all of this to say...well, this! Here in the USA, at least for when I was in school (or even the possibility that I never paid attention as a kid), I was always shown/taught that all of Africa was not a pretty place. At the least, that was the impression that I grew up with. But, as I meet people like you, Ben...and see so many photos from my daughter's journey and from others...that Africa is BEAUTIFUL! Of course there was always the areas where the Lions roam, etc. But, I was always given the impression that Africa, as a continent, for the most part...is uninhabitable and/or "ugly". I hate that this was this impression that I had...as it seems like a great place to not only visit (whether it be for missions or leisure) but a great place to live. This shows little for our education system over here.

Anyway, I just wanted to touch on how beautiful Africa is...no different than parts of the US, Canada (I grew up traveling to B.C. and other parts of Canada every year as I have family in B.C.) and even Mexico where I myself used to travel each year as a youth to do mission work in Monterrey N.L., etc.

My whole point is this...how much of a Blessing it is to have the internet these days! With it, I get to meet fine people such as yourself...as well as so many from other countries and places...that sadly, I know little about.

Why did I not pay attention in World Geography...when I had the chance!

Anyway, again...you've a beautiful place Ben. I'd love to see more photos from your surroundings. Thank you for sharing!
