Hello all,

Is there anyone on the forum who can comment on the differences between Scantic and CT Broadleaf and if one has any advantage over the other? I'm trying to make up my mind as to which one I should plant this year.

Thanks.

Scantic is a CT Broadleaf resistant to fusarium wilt (a fungal disease). In fields not infested with fusarium, Scantic's yield was nonetheless greater than both non-resistant CT Broadleaf as well as other resistant CT Broadleaf. These studies were performed in Connecticut.

Unfortunately, the provenance of generic "CT Broadleaf" seed sold by all on-line vendors, as well as the CT Broadleaf seed that I have grown, is unclear. So Scantic is at least a clearly identified sub-variety.

Thank you for the link. I gave it a read and Scantic looks pretty good.

In another thread you mentioned CT Broadleaf can be troublesome on the color cure, I believe you said it can easily flash cure green, if I recall. Do you suppose Scantic may have a similar issue?
