Yalancı Canavarotu (Orobanche) - False Broomrape
The reason for this problem that arises during the tobacco field period is not yet known. Small or large white, whitish developments such as popcorn are observed in the root parts of the damaged plants. Since the orobanche appeared similar, it was called a false orobanche. Sometimes it can cause stunting in the plant. Tumors of 8-15 cm in diameter develop on the main root, and smaller tumors appear on the secondary roots. It is stated that leafy budding-like formations occur on the stem.
Research conducted is that it is a physiological problem. I think that the growth regulators, the imbalance in the ratio of auxin and cytokine, especially the excess of auxin, causes this problem. Unlike Orobanche, it never comes to the ground and blooms. The development of plants caught by a false orobanche slows down or stops, the yield drops. There is no practical struggle found.
Nocardia spp. It is stated that this problem may cause this problem.
