New Bills 2068 in the House and 5803 were introduced to the Washington State Legislature within the past few days that would, if passed, do two things:

-Ban all flavored tobaccos. No flavored cigarettes, moist snuff (how dip is defined in our law), cigars, chew, and anything else except what is smoked in a hookah.
-Drastically increase our already extremely high tobacco taxes.

This article touches on it, but focuses mainly on Cigarettes and vape products. The bills themselves however touch upon all of the other tobacco products:

The bills can be read (search by the two numbers above at:

That website will also tell Washingtonian's who their elected Legislators are, and provides an easy way to contact them.

For Washington's dippers, I have to imagine that the loss of Wintergreen, Mint, Straight, and all the other flavors would be a significant hit indeed. Particularly as we are precluded from ordering online.

Well, that would eliminate a large portion of commercially produced pipe tobacco blends - no vanilla, cocoa, peach, maple, etc.

Apparently someone feels that youth pipe smoking is a serious issue... I haven't noticed our local park filling with crowds of young middle school ruffians all puffing on their Savinellis loaded with Captain Black. Maybe it's different in the PNW.

They already killed much of pipe smokers ability to get the good non-aromatic stuff by preventing mail order. Very few brick and mortar retailers carry good English style blends, leaving most with little choice but mail order then they cut that off some years ago.
