Good looking soil Maks. Very professional grow blog. I think you've been reading Deluxestogie's grow blog.

Dear friend, your words are to kind. I'm trying hard but far away from mr. Deluxe.
His grow logs are real work of professional. He has time to do it right. I enjoy what I'm doing but I need to say that I'm far away, cause I have to take care of my family. I was on Hollidays with them and still I am. I came home today yust for few days to check my garden, tobacco and ...

My mother takes care of my garden when I was away but nobody can do it right as we want, right? I was on my garden today and check all bud bags, water the garden and tomorow morning I will start harvesting. There is a lot of nice things but also I don't miss any bad things in my garden. I wish I had more time but 24 hours/day is all we get.

My surprise is also with few strains of tobacco. I find out that my Havana 425 is over two meters high and that has white flowers. Strange. It was from some kind of trusted source. Also I get two other strains from newbie and I believe that both seeds are the same strain of tobacco(Black Mammoth and Dark Virginia)

I wish I could show you some pictures right now. I can't cause my PC is on wacation too. I will do it soon.

And, there is something wrong with my grow log. Pictures aren't on right positions. I hope I'm not to drunk. Maybe is just tablet...

I'm still around just not so active on the forum. I read few posts a day but don't answer it much. At the moment I'm looking around how to correctly tie a hand of tobacco. I know I saw it somewhere here. Glad to have you all good guys around here.

I'm glad I'm back.

It's been some time since I upgrade my grow log. As you probably know I have had big issues with my PC. I lost all my data in 2013. Yes all. No pictures, no nothing. I do not have backups, but I have you guys and some pictures on this server, right?
And I have my tobacco. Good stuff.

I have been busy with harvesting lately. I collect all tobacco and majority of seeds. Some shade grown varieties are still out there. They need two weeks of sun. Here is a picture from late july which was on my camera card. And I have few pictures since than.

The best looking tobacco is from my friends field. There I have grown Burley from Bosnia. The leaves are huge and beautiful. Right now are in my curing chamber and they smell gorgeous.

Mesures are in centimeters and weight is 100g+. When I have dried this leaf I only get 12g of tobacco and lost 10 centimeters in both directions. I took pictures of other strains to and weight them for comparison.

The worst was Virginia Bright. I lost a lot of it so I need to buy it for my smokes. The plants were small also the leaf. It was to long vacation and friends didn't know that tobacco needs water too.
That is for start after so long. I'm glad I'm back.

This leaf was air cured for almost two months on my porch. Stem drying was in my chamber for two days at 55 Celsius.

The tobacco looks very good and so does your vegetable garden. I wish my leaf was that pretty, the bugs chewed holes all in my tobacco. I'm glad to see you back on the forum. I hope you had a great vacation and that you are ready to go back to work now. Too much playing in the sand and the surf will make you lazy.

I have collected al the seeds and make germination test.
All seeds are good and have more than 80% germination rate.

I also find interesting thing about green seed pods. I cut them of if they aren't 100% mature and brown.
Here is the sample of Florida Sumatra seeds:

I took two green seed pods. One is already brown and other completely green.

I dried and test those seeds. You can see results in upper left corner of second picture in this post. Even better germination than of other Florida Sumatra seeds which were mature before dried.

I needed to show this video, cause now I'm changing method of fermenting back where I started last year. In closed boxes.
Also AmaxB has mention it few times. From video you see that always when I have opened the door steam goes out, humidity falls and place looses temperature. Also I need to add water regular at least once a day few liters or about a gallon. I couldn't move from my home for few days.
Now I started new batch in 8 gallon boxes.

Those boxes are from high quality PC and they seal very good. I hope and believe for good results.

From the second batch I have some very good tobacco. This is Pennsylvania Red. I get seeds from johnlee1933. I will grow this tobacco again in 2014.

Another beautiful tobacco is Guacharo. I didn't roll it in cigar yet but it looks so promising. Here are some pictures before, air cured and fermented. After each process is smaller.

AmaxB got me started on the box for fermenting. Like you, it was hard keeping water for humidity in the chamber, now with the boxes I just check once a week to see if my leaf is in high case, if it needs water I just mist the leaf and rotate it. I keep my kiln at 121 degrees and good air circulation.
