Wonder if it's to late to start over now, with my intellectual bandwidth maybe I better just focus on getting a new job. This last one absolutely beat the shit out of me physically and then fired me becouse I wouldn't/couldn't pull my weight plus my superiors weight too. I definitely pulled my own then some, o well FTW, I can't both garden and work at the same time, apparently............ I'm at a loss for caring.
Hey, sorry you are having issues with your job. It sounds like it was burning you out. I recently left my old job for similar reasons. Although it’s tough and stressful, I always liked the saying “work to live, not live to work”. If you career is so intense you can’t enjoy your hobbies and life, it’s probably too unbalanced. I noticed that the more rough my job got, the less interest I had in my hobbies, including gardening. I’ve loved gardening all my life, so that was a good work/life balance barometer for me.

I’ll keep you in my prayers while you look for more work, and get the chance to enjoy your gardening again!

I got a piece of briar a piece of Meerschaum also a 4" piece of 1" lucite rod, I'm making a briar calabash totally from scratch, I will put some pictures of that on the grow log. I am waiting on a pipe repair site from Columbus to get ahold of me, I need to locate the cork gasket that goes between the gourd and the meerschaum bowl on a traditional style Calabash pipe. I never seen how the two parts are fitted becouse I never had one of that style, the gasket should spell it out. I also ordered 6 ounces of whatever jar from The Country Squire, those guys got me thru some pretty rough days. I wanna try some of those Navy flakes of Virginia tobacco, I just hope it has some vitamin N.

I had to step back and take a breather, I am kind of down about all of it.
As of a few days ago, @BigBonner still had some transplants available to ship. Starting now with nice sized transplants would give you a fair shot at a crop this year.

Bob
I wouldn't mind buying a few, atleast have a couple plants. I wonder how to get ahold of him for transplants. And thanks for the kind words, I was quite a bit out of balance.

how to get ahold of him
Just start a conversation with @BigBonner.

We have a thread for homemade pipes:

With my gourd calabash, the vertical undercut of the meerschaum bowl is a smaller diameter than the inside diameter of the cut gourd top. A simple ¼" wide strip of adhesive cork liner attached to the inner-upper edge circumference of the gourd makes it a snug fit. Mine is over 50 years old, and no longer comes apart, so I can't provide a photo.

Everyone falls the first time- some harder than others.
I lost half my first crop to mold- ALL my burley.
I lost a quarter of the second to slugs and squirrels.
It’s not how many times you fall; it’s how many times you get back up.

You’re making snuff, right?
Plant more Lemonka and Aztec NOW, and top them early- you can still get something.

This site includes an image of the underside of a removeable meerschaum bowl cap for a calabash:

I would be inclined to ignore all the dimples that are shown.

Thank you so much, I'm assuming the mating surfaces are simply cut 90° from the ends. I am going to check out some cork gasket material.

There sure are some beautiful pipes on that website, you guys sure find some good websites, I wonder what search engine you use. They have some very nice meerschaum pipes for only 155. Bucks, I imagine any usable meerschaum has like 400-500 percent waste, the piece I got for less than 30. had a crack that made a large percent unusable, I'm going to weigh the waste verses the finished piece.
I found a pipe on the site you referenced me to "DeluxeS" it actually showed the pipe disassembled it used a very thick cork piece of about a 1/4" and it was countersunk on the inside of the gourd so the transition was nearly even, those guys do some beautiful work, I have a lot of homemade briar pipes I should post on the homemade pipe thread instead of here. Mark Tinskey from American Smoking Pipe has treated me very good, providing me with the highest quality briar at the best price of all, he goes all the way to the originating country to buy the stuff. Mark Tinskey is one of the nicest ppl I have ever known, and has the best briar blocks.
I wanna thank you guys I'm out of my funk, maybe I just need some thicker skin, the gardening failures were always especially painfull to me. I almost feel as tho my plants are live and feel pain. I sort have Idk repo'd some potted plants from a fast food joint once becouse the workers didn't wanna water them and the plants were suffering, I told them I was taking the plants, and they were glad to see them go. I don't even know what kind of posies they were but they thrived in my little New England efficiency apartment with me and my girlfriend.
To be the one to cause the neglect felt especially stupid. I kept my led ligh turned down while at work and it was very Brite in the sun without hardening them off.
My 150 watt LED light will heat a room if it's turned up to 1050ma.and that's why I didn't wanna turn it up while at work. You could tan under it at 1050ma. it consumes only 145.894 watts, and can grow 6sq. feet of canopy to maturity. I think it's got the power to prevent too great a transition as far as light goes anyways. The LEDs are Horticulture Lighting Group, the driver is a Meanwell, and the fixture I made of small 1 inch aluminum angle and flat stock I bought from Tractor Supply.
Thanks for the help with references on the web for info, or parts or plants, whatever it is you are all very helpful if you can you do. Thanks

June 16th: I rescued a few Aztec that I culled out, then I decided to nurse them back to health. Pictured are 11 plants in 12oz. cups with Pro Mix Soil, and MaxiGrow 10-5-14. I'm hoping to turn it around they are growing pretty vigorously and I have been clipping suckers. I could use a few tips, to do with "hardening them off" to outdoor conditions. Also I had issues with slugs when I lost the others, I do have fine ground limestone, but it was pretty wet with all the rain earlier? This will probably be my last chance this season, so any and all tips for the transplant to outdoors will be welcomed. Thanks ppl

Window sills, when the sun isn't beaming directly into them, are helpful in getting plants used to sunlight.
When they don't wilt, and turn towards the light, start giving them 10-20 minutes of direct sun, before moving them into the shade, again. When they move toward full sun, without wilting, or leaf damage, give them more, and start putting them outside for the sun exposure.
As for the slug/snails- I use a pretty nasty poison (not safe for kids/pets), but the slugs don't crawl 12" away from the bait pellet, after they try it, before dying. The active ingredient is "Metaldehyde".

June 17th: I put the plants out today under 2 ply of greenhouse shade cloth from 11:30AM to 3:30PM. When I brought them back in they may have been in the shade from 45min to an hour. My airstream points dead due South, the plants were against the east side in solid shade at 3:30pm, and there was just a hint of wilt on only one. I'm assuming that/SCRATCH THAT/ NO WILT, one leaf was broken almost completely off and it was the only sign of wilt. They are back in the A.C. under the LEDs turned down on low now. The dryer air conditioned conditions (higher VPD/vapor pressure deficit will have them pulling nutrients for a while tonight, for their post workout recovery. Then the LEDs will be off a lil' early tonight for them to rest up before tomorrow.

Would anyone know how many hours dark period triggers the bloom in Tobacco? I have read they are short day.

Has anyone ever ever got seeds from (Northwest Tobacco Seeds), they have an incredible variety, at a great price, I wonder how vigorous the seeds are? 15$usd a gram, they claim are like 10,000 seeds, plus 4$flat rate for shipping. $3.50 gets 4-500 seeds. Just wonder how old the seeds are? They are certified organic for those that want to know.

Eva One have a great Day/Night. My Aztec are looking great, and there's no way my LED has enouf room for 60 seedlings at this age. But they sure look great. Rob
