Better late than never !!

I begging my seedlings on the third week of April, I then transplant them in 72 cell tray 4 weeks latter and finally put them in the garden in the first week of june.

I got 30 Rose Quesnel, 30 Petit Canadien, 15 Parfum d’Italie and 15 Little Dutch.

The begging was hard, nothing wanted to stay alive/strong in the garden. Almost no root development in any vegetables nor in tobacco. I admit, I did a pretty big mistake… I throw all my wood ash in the gardent for the whole winter (maybe 75 pounds in a 1000 sq ft gardent) that’s a lot of ash and a lot of potential alkalinity. More than that, I also put around 8 inches of uncomposted wood chip (some guy said it would help my clay soil) maybe it’ll help in 2-3 year. By chance I also put a freaking lot of manure (cow/pig/poultry/horse) to help decomposed all the wood chip.

After that my Rose Quesnel add start to bloom almost one week after transplanting (4-6 leaves development) I read somewhere that cutting the whole plant to only let one sucker taking the place of the whole plant could retarded blooming with around 50% of a normal yield.

Rest of the tobacco is doing good so far Petit Canadien, Rose Quesnel sucker and Little Dutch also start blooming.

I’m also working on a Sandy garden for next year for all root veggies, potatoes, corn, and Harrow Velvet Burley, Virginia Bright Leaf, Parfum D’Italie, Little Dutch, Petit Canadien, Rose Quesnel.

Parfum d’Italie seems to be a broadleaf tobacco and late blooming. Little Dutch have very narrow leaf, Rose Quesnel narrow to. I made myself a tobacco spear to stalk cut for split stalk harvest method.

How does it look in pots ?
Here you go, three Scent of Italy and three Little Canadian (one still has its flower pods). We had a lot of rain and some wind yesterday (what was left of hurricane Debby).

I started late and I may have some nutritional deficiency with Scent of Italy (that may explain why they're all warped). I may also have topped the flower heads too early? I don't know! I'll try to mess up less next season!

Edit: about the "Little Canadian"; the one on the right and the one in the front have been topped, the one on the back/left still has its flowers.

J’étais justement à Saint-Bernard aujourd’hui chez un chum ! Je suis de St-Agapit

27-0-0 it is probably urea ? You also need phosphorus and potassium to get something that burn well. Fresh manure in the beginning of season is maybe not ideal. But they seems good so far !

What kind of soil is in your pot ? It look a little bit like when my plants where drown in very wet soil. What your watering schedule?

Its a late 2024 grow and pre-2025 grow log.

My sandy field for 2025 growing season is planted in green manure of forage peas and oat. It’s growing good and it will made a lot of organic matter in the soil. I will plow it when the flower of the pea will appear. After that, I’ll plant winter rye as a cover crop.

There’s a couple of wild blackberry around my sandy field. Probably a very acidic soil.

I bought "garden soil" I think. I don't have a specific watering schedule: I check when the soil is dry and then water them, happens every ~5 days. 1.5 L of water per 20 L. The picture was taken after a few days of rain though.

I don’t know if I should remove the leaves with small brown dot. There’s a couple of them here and there. Maybe it is cause by the wood chip that decompose in soil.
