Well, I quickly realized yesterday that there is going to be a serious learning curve. I worked for about 5 hours and only got a fraction done that I thought I would be able to do. I'm realizing I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm still really excited to see what comes of all of this but it's very overwhelming. I plan to open it up next weekend & see what I ended up with. Either way there is still plenty of untouched leaf to work with. Hopefully next time it goes a bit smoother.

Couple of good threads:

Thanks for the input Knucklehead, those are some very helpful links. Its probably hard to tell because of my terrible photography skills but there is a small layer of Perique in there (purchased from WLT) along with the Virginia's. I rolled everything as tight as I could & then wrapped it with wet twine. As the twine dries I'm hoping it will shrink some & help it compress a bit more.

It would appear to me that you have made a common newbie error, gone about it the hard way.
We have all done this at some stage, so don't worry about it. Follow Knuckleheads links and all will be good. Meanwhile what you've done will be okay. Ask questions, someone will help steer you in the right direction, read through the forums, have a smoke, but most of all have fun and enjoy enjoy your new hobby.

Is there an easier way to go about re-hydrating & de-stemming the leaves? That was the most time consuming part of the entire process. Rolling everything & wrapping with twine only took about 15ish minutes.

To rehydrate my leaves for desteming I mist them with water and put them in a plastic bag, leave for 24hrs or overnight. To destem them is easy, I get my sister to do it, :D she says that she finds it therapeutic. Anyway here's what we do, hold the main stem at the bottom and tear down pinching as close to the stem as possible. I only use it for cigarettes so it doesn't matter if it tears. I have seen other posts about this so stick desteming in the search engine and see what you find.

@PNW_Piper, did you take photos of the roll out of the twine?
