Hi everyone,

Im wanting to attempt to make a Homegrown match for Edgeworth slices. As far as I can tell, the walnutty flavour comes not only from the casing but the strain of burley used. Can anyone help me identify a mahogany burley that would be sufficient?

also, while we are at it. If I am doing a seed run - and it may be the last I can do due to changing legislation in NZ - any recommendations for what seeds I should prioritise for pipe blending?

thanks!

I have never heard of such a variety as "Mahogany Burley." My best guess is that this is what is known as Burley Red Tips, and is from the upper stalk positions of burley. TN 86 or TN 90 (not LC) will produce a deep red leaf from the upper third of the plant.

Cool I will look into that. When i refer to Mahogany, I mean the varieties that sit between white and dark. Retain a lot of the nuttiness of the former but with more earthiness
