Boyhave I screwed up! I had mg whole crop from last year hanging ( I took theleaves off the stalk and used aluminum wire to hang the leaves by going throughthe stem of each leaf so each was hanging independently) in my basement. It wasa fairly control environment at 70 rh and 75 degrees. It was NOT molded at all.I took it all down and put 8-10 leaves in a hand tying together with a zip tie.I hung the hands up close together on a rack I built. I looked today and I havefreak-n mold!!!! I have bots of mold on the stems and some on thesurfaces.
What did I do wrong? Why did I moldin hands? Not enough air flow? That's the only difference I can think of...When I put it on hands I should have run a fan to generate air flow due to anymoisture created during a heat caused when it was placed into hands ?

What can I do? Can I still use it ifI put it in my kiln? Can I treat it for the mold and then cure it?

I'm going to be pissed if thereisn't a way to salvage this entire crop... About 70 plants!!! HELP!!!

Mold can be some scary crap. Not sure if you can cut around it or if each molded leaf is toast, but I would NOT personally smoke anything with mold on it if I planned to live very long. Good way to get a dirt nap.

YMMV

You could buy some Serenade and lightly mist the leaves. That'll kill the mold "naturally"

edit: if you are getting mold on your tobacco in your basement you have too much moisture. You might want to run a dehumidier not only for your tobacco but for everything else that's probably in your basement like tools, books etc.
