The snow started today. Nothing serious but enough to clean out the grate and build a fire.
So far I have inoculated oak and maple logs with: Shitake, Maitake and Oyster plug spawn.

Cut 3-4 foot hardwood logs, aprox. 4 inches in diam.
Drill staggered rows of holes, 4 inches apart.
Tap in inoculated hardwood dowels.
Seal with beeswax.

Here's what's on for this weekend...
Blue Dolphin Oyster and Italian Oyster mushroom plugs into some maple and birch logs. I ordered enough plugs to do 10, four foot logs. Total cost (w/ shipping) $50.

Very cool! We've done Oyster Mushrooms in straw bags before but it's too dry here for the logs. Looking forward to the results this coming Spring!
