My first crop. My first pests. :)

Hey everyone, I'm growing my first crop this year and everything has been going well. I used BT to get rid of some caterpillars but otherwise have had no pests to speak of. We had pretty good rain recently and suddenly this.




I've looked at some threads and seen people talk about thrips. Some others talk about aphids. But I don't know enough to tell the difference. Or if it's something else altogether.

Anyone have any ideas?

And I saw someone else ask how big the crop was so I'll get that out of the way:

I only have about 9 plants.

This will be for trying to harvest some cigar tobacco.

Those are aphids. Use a garden hose to spray them off both the top and underside of each leaf. Not so forceful as to bruise the leaf. At this point in the season, misting with soapy (dish detergent) water probably won't get the job done.

That was so fast! Thank you so much for the help. I will head right back out and do that. Is there maybe a preventative that would keep them away?

This will work for next season. You add it to the transplant water when you move your seedlings into the patch.
