Hey all getting ready to prep and tackle some fermentation on some leaves im growing for ten tobacco plants I grew myself this year Im airing curing a few that I took off the bottom praticing of sorts as im new to all this. My plan is on setting up a rudimentary curing chamber with a large styrofoam cooler, a heat lamp in the top and some boveda packs for moisture, and a couple of holes to allow some air movement. Im interested if any of you have have tips or tricks for a small set up like this so I dont go wasting to much time and energy. Im growing Connecticut Broadleaf, and TN86 (although could be another variety as my plants potentially got mislabeled :S) from Victory seeds.

Thanks everyone! Appreciate the support. Its fun but just like trying anything new, I find myself scratching my head every once and while trying to figure out what the heck im doing lol. Today I was checking on my leaves and I noticed this blotchy blueish green on the leaves. Is this mold or not fully color cured? My first thought was mold. So I treated my other leaves with a spray of hydrogen peroxide. If it is mold is the whole leaf compromised or can I use parts that aren't touched?

One note: I sprayed these down with H3O to better illuminate what im seeing harder to see while the leaves were dry.

Welcome... and to answer your question... Consider putting your cured leaf( in proper case/ moisture level) into mason jars or some type of tub that seals. Add a light bulb and thermostat to your box and you are good to go. Vent your jars/tub once per day and you should have smokeable leaf in 30 days.

Thanks for the tip! What is the proper case/moisture level I should be looking for? Do you suppose it would be helpful to put those Boveda moisture control packets inside the jars to help prevent mold growth and keep things consistent?

Hi, I don't think that you have a mold problem. Some leaves just dry out that way. I think it's caused by fluctuating temperatures when you are air or sun curing. Vaginia Gold is the only one that I sun cure all the others that I grow are yellowed in the Kiln. I did notice that some of your leave have white spots this may be Tobacco etch Virus, don't panic about it One of the other members will be able to help if it is, it maybe sun scald, I get it from time to time. This is caused by the sun shining on wet leaves.
