I've just been down to Granada in Andalucia, southern Spain to visit my youngest daughter, my Spanish son-in-law and my two grandchildren. On my return, I see my seeds have germinated. Off to a good start. I'm hoping that with some careful bottom watering, with a weak fertilizer mixed in, I can get some good roots. I'll keep them under lights for now.

Forgetting about the seeds and perlite for a while. Back to this years plants... I'm getting some good growth on most of the plants now (they're just shy of being a foot high). Unfortunately three have decided to flower. I think I recall a post by China Voodoo about pinching out the flower bud, and waiting for a sucker at the top of the plant so it still increases in height. Any advice on how big I should let the flower bud get, before I take it out?

If I'm looking at the photo correctly it appears that theres at least 3 pairs of little leaves below the flower bud which when fully grown is going to add another foot or so to your plant. I'd be inclined to leave it for the time being and see how it goes.

Thanks for advice. I'll hold back and see what happens.

Seventeen weeks from germination and it looks as though I'll have twenty two healthy plants. I made so many mistakes with this grow, I'm surprised that I ended up with any at all. While all those mistakes are fresh in my mind I've started a second grow as mentioned earlier in this thread. I'm starting another grow log for this second grow which I hope will be less chaotic.

Putting four plants to a tray and putting timber sleds under them means I can easily move plants to follow the sun as it crosses the roof terrace. Thanks Knucklehead. Your "Kiddie Pool Grow" was an inspiration.

Just got back from seven days in Portugal and Spectrum plants have more than doubled in height. KY17 growing well but slower. Most Spectrum plants are showing flower buds now. Not sure whether to top them now or wait a little longer.

I've got in a bit of a muddle. I'm growing Bright Leaf Spectrum and Burley KY17. Can anyone tell me what the one in the photo is?

Thanks Knucklehead. I've already looked both plants up on NTS and find it hard to see a difference, BUT, it clearly states that the KY17 is a slow starter compared to a Bright Leaf and I do have exactly half the plants much smaller than the other half. I'll assume that the taller plants are Spectrum. They were all labelled at the start, but somehow I seem to have lost some tags.
