I'd noticed it'd been five years since I rolled this: Panatela. The next morning (yesterday) I woke up thinking, I need to roll something in the spirit of that. Like a double lancero or something. I did this by rolling a long-ass bunch which I then flipped end-to-end in a mold. To do the bunch I laid base leaves overlapping in my hand and then laid in overlapping (end-to-end) tubes, which I sort of had to keep wrestling back into position as I rolled the whole mess in a quadruple (end-to-end and some overlap) binder. Ended up rigid, firm, and nice medium draw.

Seems like it would work. You'd still have to shuttle the bunch past the seam a few times so there wasn't a strange uncompressed bit in the middle.

EDIT: Let me say that I have rolled some very long stogies, which I found to be surprisingly difficult. But nothing near as long as that one. So congratulations on such a truly lovely lancero de Alejandro de Macedonia.

The lance points of every man in the first five ranks of a Macedonian phalanx extended in front of the first rank. Kind of tough for the other side in melee combat. That technique got young Alex through Persia, and all the way to Afghanistan. If the lances had been extra long stogies, he might have won their hearts, rather than having to stab them.

Ah! While the graphic does show some long lances it doesn't do justice to the concept over the first-row over-jut, does it! However did they maintain a hold on those things with that gravity leverage working against them? Some sort of attachment of the lance butts to a belt? Your last line is true and really cracked me up!

The butt of the lance was trapped within one armpit. (They even trained for the phalanx to part in the middle, at the latest possible moment, when a war elephant charged against them.)

Though a non-smoker, Alexander nonetheless died young.
