dang, that was too fast. I really would like one.

Does the 10cm length indicate that it is some type of "crosscut" shredder? Really would be nice if the shred length was longer than that.

I'm a relatively new owner of a Powermatic and very pleased with the purchase.

(Powermatic forgot to pack an owners manual in the box, can one be downloaded off the internet somewhere?)

I still have my original box. The only paperwork that shipped with mine was the warranty card. I'm not sure what an owners manual could tell you. Contact info is on the warranty card. There are no adjustments to make. No assembly was required. Just the on/off/reverse switch. Disassembly info is not provided as I'm sure they prefer for you to send in the machine and pay them for repairs.:)

In fairness to Powermatic when there was a gear problem with my model they very quickly sent a replacement, upgraded gear box free, shipping paid with installation instructions. They showed NO desire to have me return it for a chargeable repair.

John's right. I didn't mean to disparage the company. I've had excellent service from mine. I'm just talking cars and companies in general.

Absolutely, I agree, very straight forward operation. The warranty cards implies operation as per the owners manual.......please don't misunderstand, not a big deal.

If I had any questions for the manufacturer they would be related to duration of run time and how to clean the cutters.

30 mins. run time. To clean cutters I use a spray bottle of water and spray them to the water comes out clear runnin it backards. Then dryin it well with a hair dryer.

Boboro,
I agree. I have had mine for about a year now. It is one of the early models. Other than tightening the offending gear box screw (once) and then installing the (FREE) upgraded gear box I have had no problems. I do not use it as hard as some of the guys (about two cartons a week) and have never run really high case leaf thru it. It is an excellent machine.

Just as an aside I run all my cigar scraps thru it (not ribs) and my buddy and his wife are experimenting with Havana.Virginia blends. They are zeroing in on a blend she likes better than the Marboro Lite blend we have been making.

When you are cleaning it where do you spray the water in? In the front like leaf or up from the bottom? Do you tip or tilt it in any special way? I have never cleaned mine and think it might be a good idea now. Since I have the old model how often do you recommend grease in the gear box?

Thanks,

The shredder has a cooling fan. I never considered it would have a duty cycle. Paper shredders usually have a duty cycle but then most paper shredders have no cooling fan. The paper shredder I have used has a duty cycle of 8 minutes on and 30 minutes off.
