I figured I'd start posting here instead of dominating the garden pics thread.

I'm growing an acre of a huge variety of seeds all mixed together.

The list is here:

This morning and afternoon (and probably the next few) working on getting the irrigation setup. Racing to see if I can get water down before forecasted rain Thurs, Fri.

Today I have to straighten some irrigation lines that were floated around by the rain, other than that progress continues. It's about time I can begin to survey what population of what types came out of the mix. From afar definitely seeing the buckwheat and sunflowers at about the correct rate. I think next year I'm going to invest in a three row corn planter, my seed drill just doesn't space them evenly enough.

The milpa is starting to hit boost phase. Nature has done almost all the (over) watering this far with regular 1"-2" rains about a week apart since emergence.

I may need to adjust the mix to increase legumes next time.

Well, with the recent additional rain causing yet more field flooding, the milpa crop has been declared. Mostly a failure. We were able to harvest about a bushel of cow peas and a couple dozen ears of very pitiful sweet corn. But the plan now is to wait for the ground to dry, plow it under and try to start a fall crop.

I imagine we will get another bushel of cowpeas before the ground is dry enough to get the tractor out there, but almost all of the squash, melons, okra, etc has been drowned at this point and the baheia is starting to claim dominion again.

The milpa field has been tilled and bedded and is now awaiting a fall crop planting, probably in the next couple weeks mostly waiting for a decent rain to add a bit of moisture. If I don't get any in the next week, I will have to setup the overhead sprinklers to get the seeds in and going.

I also prepped about a 1/4 acre including the area where my tobacco was grown for a winter squash attempt. Watering the beds in now, hoping to plant around the 15th.
