I'm not sure where to post this... Shoot, I am in search of something that might not exist. The bigfoot of cigars if you will, only smaller. lol What's out there with a decent taste and a good punch but not too harsh? I was looking at wholeleaftobacco.com for a blend though I don't understand all the descriptions. I don't know what to try, really, and i'd hate to waste good tobacco if I just plain ol' don't like it. I have seeds to germinate and plant in the spring for small stalk black mammoth, standard burley (ta16) and tennessee burley (tn90). I plan on acquiring more varieties of seeds including yellow twist bud, virginia bright leaf, prilep, and maryland 609. Lately I have been craving a cigar though I am ballin on a budget. I also have limited space though I have about a 225 day growing season so I am planning on planting 2 smaller crops. I'd like to be able to farm and cure some leaves for cigars too. What should I grow?

I agree with Bob. If you aren’t sure, start with a blend kit. They give you an ample amount to try without breaking the bank. Read the descriptions, and see which one sounds like what you prefer in a taste profile. Enjoy the journey.

Agree & will echo what’s posted above. What one person may like, the next may hate. The kits are a good deal for sure to get started. Next I’d personally gravitate towards Dominican or Nicaraguan. I’d hold off on any Indonesian, Sumatra, or Fire Cured unless you know for certain at the moment you like them. Tastes change also, but enjoy the ride… and make sure to make more space for leaf if you “catch the bug”.

Once i get the leaf and it is open, how should it be stored?
Keep it in the vapor proof bags at low case. I just fold the top over two or three times and hold it closed with wooden clothes pins. You may need to spritz inside the bag with a mist from a sprayer bottle with water to maintain it in low case. If it is dry, dry, the aging stops. With just a bit of moisture the aging resumes. Too much moisture and the leaf can mold.
We use “case” to describe the level of moisture in the leaf:

edit: the link will take you to the post on a description of the terms out of case, low case, high case, etc. Read the entire thread for more tips regarding storage.
