How fast will tobacco juice kill wasp's? I was thinking about putting it in a spray bottle.
About twice as long as WD-40 takes to kill'em.:D
Just killed a nest of them in my clothesline pole today.
If the eggs aren't soaked good, the'll hatch and have to be resprayed.
I walked by the pole and gave it a good whack, thinking I'd killed them and I was wrong, the eggs hatched and got my big ass in high gear.

LOL. When we were small my cousin put his mouth up to the clothes line poll and yelled in to it. The wasps stung him on the gums about 4 times. He was rolling on the ground with his hands over his mouth screaming, and the rest of us were rolling on the ground peeing ourselves from laughing so hard. After that every time we walked past a clothes line pole and we were with him we'd say hey David how about go over there and mouth that pole and check it for wasps. LOL. I still laugh about it when I think back.

Mark, If you sprayed in the day you might of missed the ones that were still out foraging, and they will be a little pissy after coming back their nest. wait till evening to spray when they are all at home. a few of the pupae may hatch but most larvae and eggs will die in short order with out a supply of water and food, they have big appetites and need to feed constantly.

My wife had a whole bunch of mosquito and ants bites from the other day and nothing was helping. Knowing I stored tobacco for wasp and bee stings and knowing how well that worked she made a poultice for her other insects bites and it brought instant relief. We should market this stuff.

How does she make this poultice?

Found a cool page on natural insecticides. Here's what they say about nicotine.
"This plant insecticide can kill insects 2 ways. It is mainly classed as a contact insecticide. It can also kill if the vapor is taken in through the trachea then it can paralyze the central nervous system, It is very effective on soft bodied insects . The list of insects that can be controlled with nicotine include the following, Aphids, Thrips, Red Spider Mites, White Flies, and Coddling moth larvae, It has also been used with success on some types of Saw Flies, and small Beetles (Lepidopterous Larva)"

Seems like for wasps Diatomaceous earth would work better.
