Very odd pipe shape. My estimate of the smoke hole bore would suggest an acute angle that would be difficult to smooth and to clean, unless a secondary bore were drilled part-way down the shank, then somehow plugged on the surface.

I only have a hand full of pipes, and don't look at a pipe in the way you just described.

This is no Gourd,this is Pear. I assure you that no matter if the airhole isn't U but V has absolutely no problem while inhale. I have those Ukraine pipes for Aromatics and never disappointed me.The way to make the airhole in U shape in Briar etc pipes is a highly guarded secret,many makers tried but the majority failed.

Can you guys post pictures of the blends you keep smoking? They sound interesting, but pictures and a description of the blend would complete the story. They might give us home blenders some ideas for blends just by looking at the different colors and a description of the tobaccos.
