Today I discovered that Burley and my raw finish Nording are going to be best friends.

Try this one. Joe Junior: 4 parts Burley, 5 parts Burley tips, 3.5 parts Perique, 2.5 parts VA Red, 1 part VA Bright. All about the Burley, just as punchy, not as grumpy, and I suppose also not as wise as Old Joe Krantz.

I bought this Molina Y Carbon look, take a look the mouthpiece with that unique stamp, here is the dilemma:
Should i keep it as is? Change it with another colour mouthpiece as Yellow or White in the same shape? Change it with another colour mouthpiece as Yellow or White but with no saddle, a more smooth shape?

Decent enough day today (mid 60s and sunny) that I got to sit out on the porch and enjoy a bowl of Balkan Sobranie in a generic looking bent billiard basket pipe I picked up last year. It’s got no name and some obvious fills, but smokes great.

Didn’t think to get a picture though, sorry guys.

I was all over the place with my tobacco picks yesterday, so I’m feeling like mellowing it out a little today. I’m smoking Watch City Mistletoe Jam, their 2022 Christmas blend. I’m smoking it in my newest to me calabash pictured above.

I placed an order yesterday for some whole leaf tobacco to play with. Aside from the results of a poor attempt at growing a tobacco plant some years back, all of my cellared blending tobaccos are of Sutliff origin and therefore cased to some extent. I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do with the leaves.

This morning, Smyrna "13" Bright was my first bowl in my new meerschaum fresh in from Turkey. I may become a slave to the white goddess with this pipe.
Nice score.
They turn a nice colour when used enough, I have one that has turned a nice brown slowly. That is a pretty thick wall on that one so it might take a bit of baccy to change the colour on it.
Bottom line is they get better with use enjoy!

It's sort of double bowl design with the outer latticework completely separated from the inner bowl which is thinner than it would be if it was a solid bowl. Hopefully that will help the coloration process, but I've been told to not get overly eager about the coloring. Good things come to those who wait (and smoke), right?

Wow that would look cool with the inner bowl changing but the outer lattice remaining as is, again enjoy. They are great for testing new tobacco flavours.

Gorgeous pipe. I scored a really nice one on Fleabay a few months back, need to get back to smoking regularly. After spending many weeks (a couple months at least) with varying degrees of respiratory ailments I kind of got out of the habit - went from 1-2 bowls daily to now a couple a week. But the weather is getting nicer, that will help.
