I sowed seed in 65 small cups today. 25 Trabzon2, 20 Small Stalk Black Mammoth and 20 Little Dutch. I plan on planting these out early to mid Feb. I'm sticking with the T2 for now, because I like the growth habit. It has a thicker stalk and closer spaced leaves than the Shirazi and doesn't tend to develop a curve. The SSBM and LD are both new to me. I switched to smaller cups this time. The ones I used for my last crop were 2 1\2 X 2 1\2 inches and 3 inches tall, the new ones are 2 X2 and 2 inches tall. This gives me room enough to start 80 plants in my cabinets vs. 52 with the larger pots. I'll post pics as they germinate and develop.

I have sprouts in all 65 pots. The Trab. 2 began sprouting after 4 days, the SSBM and LD at day 5. Don't know if they will be visible or not, I can't seem to magnify more than 1x since the latest changes to the website.

On my tablet, I can enlarge by spreading my fingers on the screen after enlargement and it is still clear. That may work on phones.

Naples must warm up a lot earlier than the panhandle! Lol I have not yet even started seeds.
It hardly ever cools down enough to warm up! We only had one morning of frost last year and it was a very "slushy" wet frost that barely even formed ice crystals. The first/last 32 degree temps here is Dec.28 and Feb. 3. But as I said, it very seldom happens. You can usually grow vegetable crops here year round. So far, we've not even gotten below 50 degrees this winter.

Spring seedlings are looking good, hope to plant them out in a few weeks.
I'm going to try some fabric pots this grow, these are 3 gallon containers.

Gave my seedlings a haircut last night. I might plant these out in a week or so.

Set up my containers yesterday, oriented from east to west this time.

We had frost for two mornings in a row and the temperature dropped to 29 for an hour or two on the 31st. My firebushes and ixora took massive damage. They should come back from the roots this spring. My mango tree was burnt, but it should be okay. That should end my mowing season until it starts raining again.
The ten day forecast calls for warm weather, so I decided to transplant my seedlings this morning. We should be past any frost danger after the first week in February.

I'm not sure, but I think some of my seedlings have blue mold. Mostly on the Trabzon 2 and the Little Dutch. The Small Stalk Black Mammoth seems okay so far. I'll go to the garden store in the morning and see if they have anything to treat it with. Anybody dealt with this before?
