I couldn't find any place for posting misc. threads so hopefully this isn't a bad place to post this.

I'm trying to identifying the tobacco I grew last year. I don't really know if a description would be any good, but it was about 4[SUP]1/2[/SUP] to 5 feet tall when it flowered, had purple flowers, and I think it might be a variety normally grown for cigarettes. The leaves never got more than 1[SUP]1/2[/SUP] feet in leangth and 10 inches wide.

My boss gave it to me but does't remember what it was. I'd appreciate any info.

The only way anyone could venture the wildest guess (without a picture) would need to know soil type, geographical location, time of setting, number of sucker post and pre topping, stem color, leaf shape, etc. etc.

...but it does sound like an Oriental or Semi-Oriental to me. Probably Ottoman H.Y.

I am absolutely 1/1000 of 1% sure it's Ottoman.

That's about your only shot. There are just too many varieties that fit your description to narrow it down to one. How did it smoke?
