Red Russian TC 588 PDF There's a long story behind this one. Basically, it's the oldest N.tabacum variety I can find in the data base. The name has changed and there is no information on it. Through a little bit of research, I've found it is a naturally occuring variety in South America, though Central America and into Mexico. Could very well be one of the original tobacco varieties. It's former name was Macrophylla Purpurea. It has been the used in many experiments in crossing, but it is aknowelaged as a true N. Tabacum.

[Observations] Thats pretty cool once you figure how to read or interpret. Now if I can just learn how to visualize in cm's.

Easy. Some units of measure are intuitive.
  • 1 cm = a smidgen longer than the length of an adult housefly.
  • 1 cc = the volume of water displaced by 10 adult houseflies at the bottom of the dog's water dish.
  • 1 gram = the weight of 83 adult houseflies.
  • 1 meter = the length of two fly swatters.
  • 1 erg = the energy required for 1 adult housefly to do 1 push-up.

Wow! That makes it so much easier Bob, Is that Virginia flies or Texas flies though? Maybe if they just called them hf's instead of cm's it would be easier to relate, because that helps.

By the way I can't seem to tell the difference in my single wrapped cigars today than my previous binded and wrapped, thanks for the cue. Other than stretchs quantity of quality wrapper leaves.

Don, Send me your address. I have Bursa seed from last year. Bagged so it is safe. I have not done any germination tests on it yet though.

Don, Ive got millions of Adonis seeds browning up at the moment and should be ready in a few weeks. The plant was fully bagged and the other plants were all topped long before flowering.
If you fancy making the list longer pop me your address and ill send a bag full when there ready.

Re: Free tobacco seed list (Please read the terms carefully)

yeah, even for my personal stash i'm starting to wonder what the best rotation would be to ensure germination.

just seems to be getting bigger and bigger hehe.

well i'm looking for 4 more varieties, 2 more should be arriving with the leaf from you, that leaves me 2 more then i really gotta stop reading about this stuff because i dont want the list to get too much larger, the math involved here on a 10 year rotation with 30 strains would be 3 new for seed every 10 years, and that is totally doable. also a bunch of the packs i havent tasted so if i think it's just not as awesome as the rest i'm gonna stop growing it. the amish have it right, dont they do the same thing in the same place for a lifetime?

I can grow out a few of the varieties that are in short supply next year.
