Measuring plant height ?

I see plant height posted on seed sites ect.
What is the proper way, topped , untopped?
I Looked around could not find any info.

GRIN includes two heights: topped and untopped. Topped is measured from the ground to the very top (whatever that is). Untopped is measured from the ground to the start of the crowfoot which forms as the blossom head expands.

Regardless of the method, it's not particularly useful, other than to give a general idea of short, medium, tall and extra-tall. How tall a plant reaches is, to some extent, genetically determined, but many other factors (some in your control, others not) influence what you actually end up with.

Thanks Bob, I was just trying to figure out if these are runts or not.
All the flue cured types seem about average 4 3/4 ft to 5 1/2 ft.
The burly is doing a little better but still average height. 4 1/2ft.
The perique is over 5 ft. But small leaves.
I am going to check the leaf size next of the plants but I think I will be more than happy with that.
Another week or two I should be flu curing they are over there harvest dates but not yeller enough yet.
