I'm working on getting PA Broad Leaf from another supplier. The current one doesn't grade the leaves properly. Once i finalize an agreement, I can offer it in a blend.

We could grade our own leaves if the price is right On the other hand, that doesn't solve the "new blend" dilemma.

I've been working on a core blend now for a while now, but I haven't quite got the wrapper right yet.


Dominican binder
½ Criollo Viso
½ Nicaraguan Habano Viso

I've tried the Corojo Oscuro and Ecuador Maduro wrappers with it, but I've been wondering if the Habano2000 or another wrapper would be best? I'm currently out of H2000. I have a few CTBL and San Andres on hand that are currently drying. What I like about this blend is it's versatile. A blender can tweak the blend of Criollo and Habano or Dominican and get different nuances.

I've been playing with this blend for a few months and haven't had a bad one yet. The CTBL I used as a binder and wrapper and have a sweet nuance, but I really think the Habano 2000 might be the ticket.

I rolled 20 sticks yesterday. Let me tell you that I think I rolled a doozy and will be rolling a bunch more. I like em from mild to strong and this one feels like a combo. Strong spice and body but the nicotine hit is medium... I like big ring gauges so this is what I put together.

2 leaves of San Vicente Ligero
2 leaves of Piloto Cubabo Ligero
PA Oscuro Binder
Corojo Oscuro Wrapper

It is fantastic! If its this good now, I can't wait to see what it develops into after a couple months in the humidor. If you like a lot of spice with a moderate nicotine hit you should give this a try.

Yes, the PA Oscuro Binder and Corojo Oscuro Wrapper play well with each other. So does the CTBL and Corojo Oscuro. That sounds like a great blend~! I wonder if you replaced the San Vincente Seco with Criollo Viso 2 leaves if it would make a different blend?

Once Romeo y Julieta introduced more lines than I could keep straight, I stopped buying any of them. That was nearly 10 years ago. So, I can't answer your question.

I rolled an awesome blend a month ago . Finally was able to sample one over the 4th holiday week. Sad thing is my wife and I were up in the Northwoods/Chippewa flowage of Wisconsin area with her aunt and uncle and we didn't have any kind of signal to the real world, so I wasn't able to even take a picture of it. I'm only sharing this blend with you all because well, this is where it all starts...
It goes a little something like this-

1 Criollo 98 Viso
1 Criollo 98 seco
1 Corojo viso
1 Ecuador maduro binder
1 Corojo wrapper

I tore the bottom "legs" off while it was prebinder and added it back in the bunch to make a nice corona gordo. Very smooth , very VERY good. I just hope I can roll enough and have the self control to let set and age in a spanish cedar box,surely only will get better. Sometimes I surprise myself.
After reading the Cuba Edition of Cigar Aficionado I like to call it a Cuban throwback blend. Hope it gets picked .

By the way , not far from where we ended up (Radisson,WI) we passed a property somewhere south of Ojibwa that had a mighty nice stand of tobacco growing ...my wife asked me if any of the BOTL lived there.

So I rolled 20 completely different blends with the Corojo oscuro wrapper and froze them for two days and thawed for 2 days, so far. My plan was, select one each that seems the most ready by look and feel and so forth, smoke it, take notes. I figured if I find a blend that tastes good after a few days it should taste really good after longer conditioning.

Blend #2 was GREAT. I couldn't believe how good this thing was 4 days after rolling it. So though I have 18 blends to go, and then fine-tuning of the winners, I thought I'd share #2 here. It's similar to Harley's above.

Wrapper: Corojo oscuro
Binder: Double Nica Habano seco
Filler: 1 leaf Criollo 98 seco, 1 leaf Nica Habano seco, half a leaf Criollo 98 viso

This produced a 5-inch 48rg cigar.

I'm out of the demo leaf Don sent me so I can't tweak it yet, but my next adjustments would be to try the maduro wrapper and obvious blend tweaks like half leaf more viso, half less seco, etc.

Holy crap, I just smoked a doozie, my #4 blend. I could call this thing Revelation, because it's a subtle tweak of two of the leafs in the blend above but makes a totally different cigar. It's like I could analystically comprehend blending but this was super real. Small tweak = huge change.

I couldn't get over this thing as I was smoking it. It tastes like a really good expensive store-bought, medium-strong, spice, leather, pepper. And I rolled it six days ago. It reads like a stronger version of the above #2 blend, but the flavors are leather and pepper compared to #2 above which is more custard.

Wrapper: Corojo oscuro
Binder: Double Nica Habano seco
Filler: 1 leaf Criollo 98 viso, 1 leaf Criollo 98 seco, half a leaf Habano seco

This produced a 6-inch 44rg cigar.

The best thing I have rolled and smoked so far, out of about 150.

That does look like a great blend. I've tried one similar but flipped around. It was quite enjoyable.
