Is the Latakia at WLT still the same 1997 crop stuff they were selling a while back?

My guess is that it is. I would grab some. If you use it for pipe blending on a regular basis, then several pounds will vanish fairly quickly at 30-60% of the blend. It's truly superb Latakia.

True Latakia is an Oriental leaf that is heavily fire-cured (in Cyprus or Syria) using very special, aromatic woods for the fire-curing. The black Latakia tobacco is used in creating pipe blends, and adds a spicy, smoky quality to Balkan and English-style mixtures. The percentage of Latakia in a blend ranges from 10% to 75%, with common blends containing about 30-40% Latakia.
