Been a long time waiting to make my own tobacco press. Some may think it to be a bit over engineered but it's doing the job.

Most of it is basic 2x4's, two long 3/4" bolts w/nuts and washers, 3" deck screws, one metal plate, and one bottom piece hardwood 2x6. Easy construction and simple design.

For it's first job I've loaded it up with some of my home blend Thor's Hammer cased up a little with VG and water. It's already good but hey this may make it even better..lol I'll let it sit for some days and get back with the results.

Removed the block of Thor's Hammer from the press today. I am pleased with the outcome. Letting it dry a little before slicing up some slabs of flake. Hopefully this has improved the flavor.

Looks good. As this is press cake as opposed to flake, I don't think you need to slice it. You can just break it apart.

I agree with CV. You can just break off a corner, and crumble it into a pipe bowl. Crumble-cake.

Bob

EDIT: C&D Pirate Kake arrives looking like a dark slab of fiberboard. You just crumble some.

How wet is it? I would put it in a window sill and turn it a couple of times a day. Once the outside is relatively crispy, put it into a large Ziploc for a day or six, to equalize the moisture, then repeat as needed. Since the glycerin may or may not keep it well glued, do the drying on a large sheet of plastic wrap--just in case.

Okay will do. It's not very wet really. I crumpled some off the edge already and I'm sure it will be dry enough to smoke this evening. Thanks for the info.
