I couldn't wait to experiment when my WLT order came in today. I made a small batch of loose leaf with dark grabba. The casing was apple juice, molasses, and salt.
The tobacco was a bit bitter on its own. Not enough to spit it out, but more than I prefer. I love the taste of tobacco and was hoping for something along the lines of Havana Blossom, one of my favorite chews.
To tame the bitterness I whipped up the aforementioned casing. It did tame it and the flavor is good. It's far too juicy and sticky though. I think I reduced the apple juice too much which made it so sticky, then made it too juicy by trying to counter by simmering the tobacco in some fresh apple juice. I'm leaving it on the counter overnight to see what happens. Live and learn.
