just shredded up 8# of tobacco with the new Powermatic shredder. The new one with the grease cups and the cutter. It is a better machine than the earlier version. I like it. 2 thumbs up..
I've been planing on getting one this summer but I didn't realize the the price went up on them.just shredded up 8# of tobacco with the new Powermatic shredder. The new one with the grease cups and the cutter. It is a better machine than the earlier version. I like it. 2 thumbs up..
I have them listed at $289.99 plus free shipping. That makes them available at $5 - $10 over cost.I've been planing on getting one this summer but I didn't realize the the price went up on them.
Wish wally world sold them, I'd put one in lay away.
It's a must have, nothing else comes close to the cut, and still costs less than 50 packs (one month of smokes) of store bought ciggs.I have them listed at $289.99 plus free shipping. That makes them available at $5 - $10 over cost.
I saw this price a while back, and was the reason for my post.I've been planing on getting one this summer but I didn't realize the the price went up on them.

A pic of the shred would be great. My understanding if the old version basically crosscut the tobacco at 10cm. I hope this newer version is set up to make longer strands like a shag cut.
10cm is 100mm. That's a pretty long cut, the length of a 100 cigarette (incl. filter). It works perfectly in a cigarette injector and smokes great in a pipe. We'll be doing some sample and taste swapping before long and I'll send you some of my shredded blend to try out.
I meant to type that as 10mm long, which was how I had read it somewhere else. 10 cm/ 100 mm would be good .
The guy across the street from me has a auger type and it grinds the tobacco up.Meant to say Powermatic 1 the 2 is electric anyway works well in all of them.
Don't know about auger types I don't use those.
I completely agree. I have never heard a good report on the auger type and the complaints are the same -- Too fine -- cherry falls off. I have the Powermatic 2 electric and I have a Top-o-matic. Both make good cigs but I love the powermatic.. I don't smoke cigs but a buddy makes them for his wife and himself. He got an older auger and threw it away. He RARELY throws anything away! The guy across the street from me has a auger type and it grinds the tobacco up.
I tried and tried to get him to buy one From Don, but he had to buy this piece of junk.

The fire falls off his cigarettes because the tobacco gets ground to fine.
I think injectors are the way to go, and what I use.
The Powermatic Shredder cuts a much finer cut than me and my scissors. ( I'm tired of scissors.)
The moisture content of the leaf can have an impact on the size - the drier the smaller and finer.

I've run lots and lots through mine. That in the picture works pretty well with the top and powermatic 2 injectors
could have been a bit drier but is good
