Oh, gosh! That sounds too much like actual work. For me, fewer than 300 plants--say 250 or 200, meets my needs, and is still a lot of work. And...I'm retired. No wonder you're suffering tobacco growing fatigue. [Of course, I'm old and creaky, so the comparison may not be valid.]There is around 975 to 1000 plants and they are kicking my butt.
