Well, I didn’t give any news since the first post of my grow lot.

Couple of days after the first post, I did a pretty big mistake. I needed to feed my plant because they were starting to get pale green/yellowish and I wanted to do it organic way. So I went to the store and bought soluble organic fertilizer. It comes in a powder form and it was really difficult to dissolve in water. The instructions says that you could put 1 oz of this powder directly in the garden for 10 sq ft. So that’s what I did on my seedling trays without thinking any further. There’s certainly not the same amount of dirt in a 2 inch thick container and a garden…

I killed almost 80% of all my seedlings (tobacco and veggies).

So I restarted some veggies and tried to save some tobacco by rinsing with a freaking lot of water.

I was very discouraged, that’s probably the reason why I didn’t get involved in my grow log.

So far my garden looks good, some tobacco plants had start a really early bloom probably due to stress.

But right now I’m proud. I learned something.

Rose Quesnel have been top today. I think it is a bit early but they where fully bloomed. Some have a lot of space between leaves, some are a lot closer.

There’s a lot of rain here in Quebec. « Il pleut souvent en sacrament »

I use a pickaxe between the row to cultivate and supress weed and it work great. It is a bit labor intensive but it’s still faster than other method I had used.

I also had to make a ditch in the lower part of the garden water wasn’t able to exit !

There’s Maryland and Arrow Velvet in the first row starting from the left, Maryland in the midle, third row is Virginia Bright and Rose Quesnel

Two years ago I grew tomatoes and tobacco (as an experiment). My tomato seedling were great, and while transplanting them into a flower bed I added a generous amount of 20-20-20 fertilizer solution in each hole. Next morning each of them was dying. It was a shock for me and I didn't touch them that day. The day after I dug the seedling out, washed the roots under the flowing water, flushed the flower bed with water for a half an hour and put the seedling back in. Guess what, I had a huge harvest of tomatoes that year :) Which means I guess never give up. Glad you found a solution to save your crops too.
