So my second patch went in this morning before work. While gone the wife decides to help by watering for me.......great right.......NOT.......full force garden hose on plants newly in the ground. I get home to find 84 plants beaten down into the black landscape cloth. Maybe a dozen at best will survive the flogging. Anyone know a 60 day or less fast maturing variety that I can start to replace them? (from transplant). And do you have seed? What a day....

Not to mention she "cleaned up for me".........picked up all the labeled starting cups that I had left beside the plants until I could make marker stakes.

My friend Bud Light is helping me out as I read your post. He may need help from his friends Jack and Jim before this is all said and done though

I agree with all she was trying to do good and help. Give them a little time and see what happens.
Man hate to see hard work not pay....

Thanks Marc.
She only flooded one of the patches so I will be ok. I have some spares to replace dead ones with it just won't be pretty and organized. Just frustrating to see since I have not even gotten over the soreness from all the tiling and planting yet.

I can attest that my plants have gone through harder situations that what yours went through, it's possible they'll survive. Get them back in the ground, keep their feet dry and good luck brother :)

Bob (I believe) suggested putting a well supported tarp over the plants if need be. I ended up not needing it as the ground dried out quite a bit before our flooding but it may benefit you until the rains pass.

I reckon they're probably salvageable ... they might end up a bit mixed up but if you post the photos here it could end up being a nice "spot the variety" for us all!

It could be worse, you could be trying to grow in the UK on an exposed, cold, windy site like me ... mine haven't been water-cannoned, but they still look like they're terrified of where I've decided to grow them a few weeks after being planted out!

At least you are on high ground with that slope. The water will run down hill and you probably will come out with stronger plants than before. Then you'll be thanking her and have worried over nothing............. I hope!

The hill plot is fine. The flat garden plot that has marginal drainage is the one that got overwatered/beaten down.that I am happy about because the hill plot gets the best sun. Pics of both on the grow blog.
