Best tobacco for chewing tobacco

I am.wanting to try to make my own tobacco for my husband to chew. I would be interested in buying just dried tobacco, since I have limited space that the cows and deer won't get in
What is the best kind for loose leaf. He really likes Red Man, but it has gotten to high, so.switched to cheaper but not satisfied. Plus most of it isn't made in the USA.

Looks like at least one company was using exclusively air cured tobacco.
I believe that chewing tobacco would benefit greatly from pressing for a period of time to meld the flavors and possibly create the prune/raisin flavor found in many brands, Levi Garrett and Southern Pride (my personal favorite) for example.

I blend several varieties together. This year I'm primarily working with Big Gem. I have Small Stalk Black Mammoth, Incekara, Staghorn, and N. Rustic I blend together. It really takes experimenting to find the best blend and recipe for your taste. You can try 1 variety or several. Mammoths would be a good start I think. My dip comes out -savory I think we decided- but there are good molasses recipes on here.

I think red man is burley. I'd recommend going Northwood seeds, and picking one (or many) from there. Some threads here recommend slow cooking some apple juice with it. I'd definitely recommend reading the threads here on "how to"
