If prohibition never stopped anything how can higher taxes do any better? Lol Don't know about the states but in Canada contraband smokes can be bought in bags of 200 cigs. no label or anything. $20 a bag more or less. The equivalent legal smokes go for $50-$75 for the same amount. Knock off brands are also available. In some areas it seems like 1 in 4 smokers also sell smokes too lol. The war on tobacco is as futile as the war on drugs.

in hartford ct. you can get cigarettes from many bodagas for a lot less than the going rate. when someone (taxman) gets to greedy they usually end up paying one way or the other.

Sometimes I like to just take a moment and reflect on the loss of tax revenue to the gov't from growing my own and buying non taxable whole leaf tobacco.

Just because it's legal doesn't make it any less of a "drug". They've been trying to stamp smoking out for good here in OR for a couple years.
