I was so EXCITED this morning pulled a sample smoked some and have been smoking it all day! I thought hey good deal I can get this stuff out of my box and tomorrow start a batch of FLUE CURE.
Really want to see how it all works out, the racks, the box, all of it. But spent a big part of my day researching bright leaf and at what point do you want to harvest (prime) I want to get this right sooo bad.
The conclusion is I think my leaf needs to show more yellow than I am seeing so I am going to wait a little longer.

I got a little more leaf to get out of the chamber will do it in maybe 2 more hours. Than I'll test the racks for fit (they will) if the weather is good tomorrow I'll start pulling leaf and get a load in to cure.
Can't wait to do this I want to see how much the racks will hold, and how the leaf works out yellowing and wilting.

I am worried about the yellowing part for me this year. So far not warm enough to get any change on the plants and I think high humidity/low temps are going to slow things down a lot even after priming.

DG I hung some in my garage just to see, we have high humidity temps in the 90s and rain every 2 -3 days the last week and a half. The leaf has been there about 2 weeks has not colored to yellow / orange but turned a nice light tan.

Leverhead you had said your watching to see how the racks work out and you might go that way in 2015. If you do, it took about 4 hours to blacken a rack I am sure you have access to a torch rig be sure your gas bottles are full and linseed oil worked great.

Checked the racks for fit last night and for a wee moment thought I screwed up, it was looking like I would not be able to close the chamber door because of my chamber window in the door (the window frame) was touching. But with a soft push it closed. They fit just right...... I don't need gasket material on the ends to seal large voids I got little cracks.

Fisherman non more than me.

For me 700 F is defrost, a warm oven is 1450 F, a hot oven is 2100 F. Just make sure your bricks are dry.

I'll bet checking the racks was a warm incontinence moment!

I wish you a big smile next week.

Sometimes I need to be rude in polite company, I just use it for fun here. It's the most fun when the victim is the last one to understand what I said.

Thats a nice stack of leaf. When I dry a lot of midrib in the kiln I some times get a soured smell. It goes away when it drys.
