Update on the kilning. 4 week cycle, all is good. The baccy I shredded and put in ziplocks seems to be a good thing..........maintained just enough moisture to be immediately in "smoking case" for cigarette tobacco but with no moisture issues throughout the cycle. Aroma of each bag is really nice and look forward to trying the different varieties. I did not do a lot; as I expected the shredded baccy in the kiln may dry and crumble easily; I may shred most before kilning this year. Another plus to this is having a bunch of varieties in the kiln without worry of crossing of flavors between varieties.
Another experiment in this kiln cycle was with my last batch of cigars; I had 4 left so put 2 in a ziplock in the kiln and saved the other two for comparison. There is a definite difference in appearance and aroma; smoke test will be done when I can share and have more than one opinion of the results. A pic; as rolled on the left, kilned on the right: smoking results might be as interesting as the color change.
