I took the wife to an over grown part of the farm today to gather wild black walnuts. The area is so over grown that even though we've been married for years, she had not been here or seen this. Wouldn't this old calving barn be great for a copper you know what?

Unfortunately the white truckers favorite corn I planted for making just such a tobacco enhancing product fell over on me this year. Here is a pick of the old barn. Just behind the camera is the old spring.

What with the nuke reactor going Tango Uniform in Japan, you guys need to take iodine. But the rich folks bought up the supply so all us rednecks will get mutated.

But we is smarter then they are.

Take the green outer hulls of wild black walnuts and put them in a mason jar. Pour "tobacco enhancing product" from the copper thingy and let set for a few weeks, shaking the bottle twice a day. Then pour out the tincture of iodine into another mason jar leaving the hulls behind.

Now, when you take your daily snort, you can tell your wife it's for medicinal reasons.

Damn this thread is close to my heart!

I've just spent the day thrashing the black walnut trees near me with sticks and picking up the winter food store. My fingers look like I smoked 100 in a day!

I've also recently joined the ahem "medical iodine extract solvent maker" club ... and am loving it!

Iodine only protects your thyroid. You'll still get complications in the future.

Agreed. If you are truely worried about radiation then get some Iodine pills ( every body sells them for about $2.00 for a week's supply) and take Vitam C and the amino acid N Acetyl Cysteine (NAC). This will give you pretty good coverage. You can take the Vitamin C and NAC everyday but don't do it with Iodine.

Or, for $1.75 you can keep a 2 week supply on hand, The advantage of a tablet is that you know the exact dose you are taking. I'm all for going the natural route with things but for something as serious as treating for radiation it is probably more prudent to keep the tablets on hand (as well as Vit C and NAC). Black Walnut is also pretty popular with the "you have parasites in your body" crowd.

Hard liqueur was the very first thing to be taxed by the federal government. The main reason for the tax was due to the lack of hard currency at the time. Hard liqueur was basically the only usable currency. The tax is a hold over to those days.

Yes. In fact, under age girls are called "sugar cane" (as apposed to jailbait) because underage naughtiness will get the perpetrator twenty years of "cutting sugar cane", in hard labor prison camps.

There are two kinds of the classic illicit (Illicit only because of tax avoidance) hooch in Appalachia, that which is a cheap buzz, (made with sugar and tastes horrible) and the more expensive clear corn whiskey that gets it's sugar from malting open pollinated corn sprouts. The stuff made from sugar is almost pure alcohol and the stuff made from corn about 80 proof. Ironically un-blended illicit corn whiskey is more expensive than the best taxed Bourbon.

If it is good, I would rather pay the producer a premium for their expertise, than get cheaper and know a chunk goes to the Govt for no good reason. A man's labor should be rewarded.
