Thanks John,

You've given me an idea to that might help prompt more participation in the "Grow-out" program. I'll post it here and in the new thread I start with the list of varieties that need to be refreshed.

I understand a lot of you guys have limited space. Rather than risk not getting a palatable result from doing a grow-out of an untested variety, I'll give any member (with a known degree of experience in growing) one pound of tobacco from www.WholeLeafTobacco.com for every variety they grow and provide seeds to the seed bank (wrapper leaf will count for half credit, sorry)

I'll be buying the bags from Daniel and sending them out with the seeds to whoever does a grow-out. I'd recommend growing at least a few plants of the same variety in case of some kind of loss.

Extra GRINN seeds

I recieved a 2011 order of TN 90 and Oxford 207 about the start of last summer. I'll grow those two varietys and send the rest of the seeds for your "grow out". I'll still need a couple of daniels top covers, Tell him I,ll trade him some cool pen blanks. [I think I read he's made a bunch of pen -pencils] I got a some fine leftovers of some spalted red oak leftover from a recent project.

Hey Daniel, I have some 20 year old red oak, some hard maple, cherry and a little black walnut. If you want any just PM me with sizes and such and I'll see what I can do.

Bar G No problem with the bags I already have some made up. I have a feeling I am going to get swamped and behind in the spring though. As for the blanks. You are playing on my weak spot now :) IF you have enough and are interested I can set you up with a forum that will buy them also. Thing is most of these folks are looking for real exotic stuff but there are still plenty that like the native woods as well.

John, Your offer made me think of Pepper Mills. I make those also.

I will post it here to avoid having to send it in a bunch of PM's
A pen blank needs to be a minimum of 1/2 inch square and it is best if it is 7/8 inches square and at least 5 1/2 inches long. it also needs to be straight. if it is not allow for the crookedness.

A peppermill blank can be 2 1/2 inches square and any length cause they can be patched together. I make a few real monster mills that need 4 inch square blanks but not a lot of them. maple and Cherry are mainstay woods for mills and good pieces are hard to find.

I horse trade all the time so it is nothing new to me. Blossom bags, a pen or two, or even a peppermill. let me know what you are interested in.

FM- here is my list of seeds, most are unopened in original grin package all but the aztec are from grin.if there are any there that you don't have (and want) I will donate them. A lot of esoteric kinds, most were nj not grown out last year. But they are all pure to grin standards. http://www.fairtradetobacco.com/showthread.php?10-woot!-new-forum!

Smokes, Which of these are you planning to grow this year? Did you grow the Red Russian? I have a few of these seed, but not too many.

Randall, How about Dixie Shade? No need to grow it under shade, that would make a weak seed anyway, and Black Mammoth?
