What's the best tobacco to grow in south central Kansas, for cigars? I've read and viewed a lot of site online. Anyone already doing this? And in what state, type, had luck with growing your own?

gdbrown,
You should be able to grow just about any variety in your location, so long as you can provide sufficient water. If winds are a problem, then the "Spanish" varieties might be a good choice, since they tend to have moderately sized leaves. (Comstock Spanish, Zimmer Spanish, various numbered Havanas) Also, Little Dutch, which reaches only about 3' in height, is an excellent filler. I recommend FL Sumatra for wrapper. There are, of course, many many other choices. White-stem burleys (such as Kelly Burley and Harrow Velvet) can make mild, golden wrapper.
