So a quick question. On the GRIN site they have the types of tobacco listed for example Air cured, Flue cured ect. Burley we all know is air cured but of course they have it listed as a burley type. So, with maryland, How is it cured? I assume that it is mostly air cured. Can it be flue cured too?

BigBonner stalk harvests his and cures it on the stalk like burley. You can try flue curing a little of it. Any variety can be flue cured, but the results may not make it the best choice. Maybe someone on here has tried it before, home flue curing is still relatively new to the home growers here.

I can't speak for all Maryland tobacco but Maryland 609 has zero sucrosesters. It would not benefit you to flue cure it. But at the same time it might be interesting to see what a flue cured Burley or Maryland tastes like.

I put them back to age. I need to bring them back up in case some, I looked at them a couple of days ago and they were really dry. I'll add some moisture and give them a try. Thanks again.

Maryland is stalk harvested differently than burley .
It is cut and laid on the ground for a couple of hours the put in a barn . If the sun is hot make it less time in the sun for wilting .
Leaving it out too long will cause it to sun burn and you will have a lot of green color cured in the leaves .
I have Maryland that I harvested last year and it still has green in the leaves .

Burley can be left out in the sun for three days . Unless you live where the sun is hot 90 to over 100 degrees .
But if burley sun burns the leaves may cure with some green in the leaves but in and out of case aging will take the green out .
