Cooked up some snus a few days ago from my fall crop of Ahus tobacco.( my very first grow) Turned out pretty nice, if I say so myself. It's been aging in the fridge for about 3 days now and to me, it smells a lot like cured MLD 609 leaf. I used the Squeezjohn method, I used a crockpot water bath instead of the oven. I got pretty lucky on my crock pot, The temp on low setting maintains at about 185 to 190 degrees. I'm going to let it age at least 2 weeks before I try it.(maybe, if I can stand to keep my hands off it for that long.) I used 300g of tobacco flour, 250g water, 15g salt and for the second cook I added 16g of sodium carbonate and 2 tablespoons of VG mixed with 2 tablespoons of water.

Hate to admit this, but I wound up throwing the entire batch out. As I stated in the original post, this was made from my first crop of tobacco ever. I made many mistakes during the harvesting, curing and aging processes. I harvested most of the leaves way too early, dried them too quickly and didn't age them hardly at all. The first clue I had that something was off was when I took the snus out of the jars and it did not have that strong scent that should have been created after adding the sodium carbonate. It did have a pleasant scent of tobacco but it tasted horrible after 2 weeks aging. It had a green taste and a sort of mushy texture, in other words, it was awful. The cooking method and the proportions I used were good and I've turned out several good batches using tobacco purchased from WLT. So, I learned the hard way, you just can't rush the processes of harvesting, curing and aging.
