Snuff, Snus and Chew: a recipe book
edited by Robert C.A. Goff

Front cover

The FTT "Smokeless" forum is challenging to navigate. In August of 2022, I took on the task of collecting its Smokeless recipes for a dedicated book, not expecting the project to require more than a couple of months. (After all, the recipes had already been created by our forum members.) Instead, bringing together Snuff, Snus and Chew stretched to the winter holidays, and on into following year. Forum contributions to the content are from 2011 to January of 2023. My first draft was finally done in mid April, along with my cover art. I completed the final edits over the following week, then uploaded the book for print-on-demand.

Back cover

This book's contents span over 11 years of member experimentation and enthusiasm. The included recipes were extracted from over 260 separate discussion threads, comprised of over 3500 posts.

You will find recipes for nasal snuff, oral snus and loose chew, as well as general guidelines for selecting tobacco varieties and preparation methods. Where other forum members have added useful comments regarding a recipe, those are included as well. Some recipes utilize purchased, whole leaf tobacco, while others select from home-grown varieties.

As with my two pipe blending books, I am publishing this under an Open Copyright, the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike: it is free to use, copy, and even re-publish, so long as full credit is given. A FREE pdf version of the book is linked below.

DOWNLOAD the FREE copy of Snuff, Snus and Chew as a pdf (~4.8 MB). It does not include the front and back covers, so if you want them, copy them from this post.

The printed book can currently be purchased (world-wide) at Lulu.com.

Within several weeks, it should also be available from Amazon and other on-line retailers.

Looks like it should have been. If, in touch typing, my right hand is shifted leftward by one key, and I type "Krausen", I end up with "Jrayseb". [That took a bit of detective work.]

Good catch. I'll have to update (correct) it in a new upload of the book to the on-demand printer. I'll edit the above listing of the TOC now. [...and the free pdf download]

If you will PM your full mailing address, I will send you a new copy, which should be available in about 3-4 weeks.

Bob

EDIT: The updated version has been uploaded to the print-on-demand printer [lulu.com], and should appear in its corrected version on Amazon, etc. within a few weeks.

Thank you. It's listed in our Index of Key Forum Threads, which gets updated sporadically.

Bob
I just learned something new! I had no idea the key forums thread existed. I have approached the forum like those that existed in the pre Facebook times and used the search bar! I even managed to find it and will have to spend some time going through it.

You are welcome...and welcome to the forum. Feel free to introduce yourself in the Introduce Yourself forum.

The content of the book is entirely taken from our Smokeless forum. My hope was to extract all the meaningful, quantitative recipes from that forum. The book misses Smokeless posts from after early 2023, so do check those newer posts.

That sure was a lot of work I'm sure, compiling and editing all of the entries into such a polished finished book. That would have to be a ton of work, I have no idea where you found a translator that translates inglesch into English. You definitely are very passionate about everything Tobacco, very very excellent work, BOB thankyou!

@deluxestogie Do you use smokeless tobacco?

I have it downloaded, I will take a look, I have checked out some dry snuff stuff. I wonder at times how popular nasal snuff is, I never met anyone in person that uses nasal snuff.
